Wheelock taught me Latin. Cambridge wasted my time. Also gave me Grumio. Point CLC.

 Latin for Americans! That’s what we used in my middle school; then we had to switch to Cambridge and it was horrible. I literally had to wait for 2 books until we “learned” the genetive. Da fuq?

Yeah! We used LFA for a bit my freshman year; I quite liked it. Wheelock was most of my education, though.

 A girl that transferred to my school from another with an IB program said that her Latin teacher used Wheelock and it was grammar-centric. But I think that’s because it was an IB school and they just kinda got to do anything they wanted if it got good results. They didn’t have to streamline their course so it matched with everyone else teaching Cambridge.

I haven’t looked at a Wheelock book before, but I think that LFA is a good medium between grammar/vocab and customs/history. Cambridge is wayyyy too focused on customs and history. It kind of pisses me off, actually, because they pretty much stop asking customs questions in certamen when you get to Advanced…

That’s quite true. We did have an IB program, though I took the Advanced Placement track (the Virgil syllabus is more fun in AP). I never had much of a complaint, Wheelock-wise. I learned my Latin. If my customs and history suffered along the way; well, that’s what college is for, right?

Do you attend National Convention? I’m probably going to be bringing some textbooks along.

 Yeah, I’m in AP Vergil right now, and I really could’ve used 2 more years of LFA instead of Cambridge.

SCL, any more. I couldn’t go last year, which would have been my first SCL Convention. But I have much higher hope for this year.

Way to frazzle my brain and give me an SCL heart attack Joe. I follow the meme so I thought that THAT was the reason this showed up on my dashboard. Then I start scrolling and see talk of SCL and just about die…then I look and it’s just you Joe. *sighs* You’re going to kill me one day bro.

ON A RELATED NOTE! We used Cambridge at my high school…in retrospect I regret having begun my Latin education that way. Got to college and got smacked in the face by Wheelock. My high school teacher did what she could though, the program was in danger of being axed in years past so she slowed down the curriculum and started using Cambridge.
